1  Pat Stuff / Review a Show / Re: O'Gara's 10/5/07 on: October 09, 2007, 05:39:27 pm
It'd been forever since I'd been to a Pat show... and I'd had an interview earlier in the evening, so I was way, way overdressed for the occasion.  And it was a total blast, of course.

Let me just declare that, as announced by Pat and added on the autograph on my copy of 15 Favorites...

I am Pat's gay subtext!  Cool

A great night filled with songs I hadn't heard before, favorites, and introducing two Pat virgins to sample the nectar.

I'm guessing that I met Karlee, briefly, when I said hi to Tom and he had no idea who I was.   Tongue

I need to start coming to more shows again.

I thought that was you.  I waved in your general direction when you peeked your head in the Willy room (that first room on the right), but you never really looked my way.

So, speaking of the World Cup... Meemur, were you at the Local on Sunday?

 Shocked

No, we all lose.

How much begging would it take for me to need to check my e-mail too?  Smiley

I want my child hood back and not endless nights of drunkeness!

I'm a bit surprised that wasn't your childhood.  Wink

Didn't recognize many regulars, but did see a few, like Tom and Meemur.  Apparently I scare Pat, especially when I'm the only one who hops up on stage to do the Match Game dance.  (Not even Tom.  NOT EVEN TOM!)    Cool  (Edit: Wait, no, there was one other brave soul who did the Match Game dance with me.  But she left before the Hill Street Blues dance.  It was still a very surreal moment.)

I did bring out some virgins, and like all converted virgins, they can't wait to do it again.  Grin  (And I'll be glad to go to O'Gara's next time--hands-down the winner of best Pat venue in the Cities.)

I wish I had a monkey paw...

O'Gara's, without a question.  Not that I won't go to Fine Line, but I much prefer O'Gara's.  And, now that St. Paul's going no smoking, it'll be that much better.

Dude.  I'm around twelve years overdue for my first NIN concert.

Roadtrip!

Damn, I didn't know NIN was coming to town.  I'm about fifteen years overdue for seeing them.

I can't make this time around, which sucks, because I like O'Gara's so much more than the Fine Line.  However, I'll be boarding a plane headed for England at 5pm on Friday, so I suppose I can't feel that bad.  Grin

According to their website, yes.  But that didn't seem to make their pancakes any less tasty.

What about Gabe's?  Granted, it's been... *thinks*... almost 10 years since I've seen a show there, back when I lived in IC, but it was a "national" act, Pansy Division.

The New Year show was very great.  I started off the evening in a rotten mood, after waiting in the coat check line then having a problem at the bar, but after having been given four bottles of booze to start the evening, I started feeling a lot better.  Grin

Oh, for future reference, on my walk away from the Fine Line that night, I discovered that there's a club on 5th Ave called 3 Degrees that serves all-you-can-eat pancakes for $5 (and other breakfast food, too) until something like 3 or 4am.  Great for sobering up before driving.

So, it's a Pat show, but with appetizers and free booze.  And it's $65.

I'm a cheapskate, convince me I need to go to this.  Wink

(Anyone know if they serve cider?)

Ironically, my absence at this show was due to the fact that I was in Milwaukee for the weekend.  But I'm trying to get back in the swing of going to shows.  What's the NYE at Fine Line story?
