My wife is from Kaukauna. With the exception of her, and those little buckets of cheese spread, I'd have to agree with "I shit on Kaukauna". That paper mill just reeks up the entire town.

But you know what? A lot of people who live in Kaukauna work there. And it isn't really the mill that smells, it's the tri-country waste water treatment plant behind it that smells. I wonder if I know your wife. Where did she go to HS? What year did she graduate? I graduated in '97.

I don't know anything specific to Madison, but things that are always useful in the dorms:

2-ply cushy toilet paper (the provided stuff sucks!)
A hot-pot (very useful for Mac and Cheese)
A pizza maker (shh.... I don't know if they are allowed in the dorms there)
Hot chocolate (always a good thing)
Her favorite flavor of gatorade and dramamine (good for those hung over mornings)
Picture frames or a tack board for messages, memos, memories etc. (whoooo... that's a lot of M's)

I might think of more stuff.

Ok, after looking into this further, it is a proposed bill before the city council. I doubt the mayor will pass this bill... the air from Thilmany's is worse than second hand smoke by far.
