ok, who wants to explain to me "Intimate Pat"? Is it basically like a Monday night show at the BK during Monday Night Football?

Darvon just look at the review and the complete set list of the last intimate pat show, and the review of a show that was close to an intimate pat show but not quite read note before clicking here(note: sorry for bringing back a very controversial thread, my only purpose is to illustrate what an intimate pat show is and the expectation they create. Don't mean to offend or piss anyone)

That's actually not a bad comparison.
The biggest difference is likely to be the set list. First off, you won't hear a single song that is played at Summerfest--including Sex & Beer.
Pat actually rehearses for officially sanctioned Intimate Pat(tm) shows. There are a few IP Standards you can expect to hear--I don't think I've been to one of these in the past five years when he didn't play Nobody In My Neighborhood. He also practices some of the stuff that he always says is "too hard", and almost never plays. Girls Get In Trouble, You're A Masterpiece and a certain song about a bunch of people Going Round* fit into this category. He usually mixes in a cover or two just for fun. But the most fun is usually the crazy obscure shit that he dusts off. Stuff I'VE never even heard him play live. (I'd say Lippert, but there's NOTHING that guy hasn't heard live.) Songs from Good Life/Memorial Day. Stuff from Yipes, the Confidentials or the Men About Town. Random shit that he played once and forgot all about.
The last time he did one of these (2/16/03) I took a bus from Boston to NYC and flew back to Milwaukee just for the show during the worst snowstorm to hit the Northeast in the past 25 years. Admittedly, I'm a little unstable, but THAT'S how much these shows rock.
I doubt very seriously that I'm going to be able to make it back for this one, and I'm very, very cranky about that. If you live within driving distance, dig Pat, and miss this show I will punch you in the neck.

Fuckin' Right!
Who's going to camp out with me? I'm thinking about pitching a tent (and no, not in my shorts) and having a slumber party outside shank waiting for the doors to open. We can have soup and regail each other with fictional stories (shameless plug).
I think Jerry McGuire said it best when he said..."Who's coming with me?"

Sounds wonderful! What's the line normally like for these things? Is there no chance to get in if you're not there hours and hours ahead of time?
And who are these lucky people that get MLK day off???

I work in a school, but I don't think I have that day off. The kids do, but I'm pretty sure we have inservice. Every holiday the schools have to observe like that, they just slap us with inservice rather than give us a day off, too. Jerks.

Like it matters if you have the next day off. Suck it up. These shows don't come along that often.
I'm serious. If you don't go I'll punch you in the neck.
It hurts. Ask Sarah.
