I never thought i'd say this.  never, in my entire 2 years going to pat.  i'm bored!  i'm really just bored.  let me explain:

over the winter, i was pampered with such an intimate crowd that pat knew every single person in the room.  virtually no common songs were played and pat would take a good amount of time to joke around, and it made for an absolutely amazing show.

unfortunately, that all ends with summer.  all the drunkards and other "interesting" folks make it out to these shows, converting a once quiet, but extremely fun pat show into, well, a weekend show.

don't get me wrong, i love the weekend shows, but my monday nights are for a different show where i hear songs that i actually don't know.  also some, dare i say, more serious songs.

and so, i am heading into a reverse hybernation.  monday nights will now be for tennis and sleeping and no pat.  and when the time comes (around late september, early october), i will return to the show i really enjoy.

Of course, don't worry Mauricio, I'll still find time to visit a tuesday night show  Grin.  and the occasional weekend show.  but really, why should i drag into work on tuesdays for a show that i can see when i don't have to work the next day?  See my beat kitchen friends in September!

Well, I guess I now know what I missed last night thanks to bronchitis.  I must agree with you Darvon.  I have a blast when I go to a weekend show, but I enjoy the peace and intimacy of a Monday night show at the beat kitchen.  Lately, Monday nights have been anything but.  It was all downhill for me when I heard mutterings os some girl wanting to take off her clothesfor Pat.  I miss the old Monday nights with moments with Frank, Darvon, and Pappy.  The good old days when everyone knew everyone's name.  I'm with you Darvon...no more Mondays until September...unless I am suffering through terrible Pat withdrawl.

Hey... no fair!

You guys are my pat show comrads... you can't bail now just because the shows aren't as intimate as you'd like them to be. Pat will always pander to the crowd and so when people aren't making requests... he plays what he knows will get a good response. If you want to hear old stuff... request it.

Hell, write it on a napkin and deliver it with a glass of fine merlot, or a shot of jager, or a glass of cider. You guys know Pat more than well enough to chat wtih him about the songs he plays... just let the brotha' know and I am positive he'll play stuff that's more your speed!

Crimeny, I miss one show and everything goes to hell in a hand basket!

Aren't my twizzlers and sweet tarts incentive enough?  Wink

As much as i love your twizzlers and sweet tarts, there will always be weekend shows.  it's not so much about the occasional old song he plays, it's about the whole atmosphere of a non-summer crowd.  and i kinda get the feeling that pat's bored with good ol darvon, anyway!  Cry

Darvon, I've not been to Beat Kitchen, but i see your point anyway.  I LOVE summer concerts, being outside, drinking my MGDS in the warm night air...but those crowds can be NUTS...inchoherant, virgins, obnoxious drunks, impossible crowds, and people who don't get Pat.  I'll never stop going to these (especially Summerfest,State Fair, Harborfest...) but usually by September I am more than ready to settle back into the comfortable, predictible, I-always-see-someone-I-know confines of Club Paragon and Shank Hall.  Being kind of a groupie/name-dropper type from a family that's the same (and loaded with performers), I confess I prefer the intimacy of sitting close and being with a group that Pat interacts with.  There'e my two cents.

i am trying to figure out when would be good for a tuesday adventure, though!  probably won't happen until September  Sad

Well, let me know when you're gonna venture to RSR, Darvon.  Maybe we can make our debut the same night.

Darvon and Beth, Lawson and Mark just told me they are coming from Chicago this tuesday (24th) Smiley Smiley Smiley. I hope you join them in their trip.
And broadway, this would be a good day for you to come, that way we'll have Chicago, Milwaukee and Madtown patheads together to witness pat's return to the retreat
