Can anyone confirm or deny if the following served as any sort of impetus/inspiration for the beloved "Monkey Paw" song?

Treehouse of Horror II

In the dream with the monkey's paw, when the shopkeep says, "You'll be sorry," his mouth doesn't move. Also, at the end when Flanders gets his castle, the scene after when Homer says, "I wish I had a monkey's paw" you can still see Ned's old house in the background.

It ain't original to The Simpsons.  It's from a story that's over 100 years old and has been reuse dozens of times.  Check out Wikipedia

It ain't original to The Simpsons.? It's from a story that's over 100 years old and has been reuse dozens of times.? Check out Wikipedia

I enquired of Pat May 8 if he knew of the Simpson episode.? He did not recall.? Schzoid went through his collection, and we handed over a copy
of the Monkey Paw episode af the May Coins show in May.? I've talked to other people generally about Monkey Paw, and those who knew of it
referred to the old horror story.

Also, here's a copy of my post from deeper down the "Messages to Other Patheads," back when Monkey Paw was new.? Happy? Reading:
I was originally gonna just link this up with a copy of 'The Monkey's Paw' by WW Jacobs (1908)'...

... but I somehow think this link here a lot more appropriate....

Hope this clarifies Smiley
