That may happen sometime early next year.  I'm trying not to "flood the market" so to speak.  For now, you'll have to settle with an mp3 every six weeks.

Another reason I've been holding back is that I just don't have really good copies of their songs.  The best I have is a couple of live shows taped off the radio.  (Anyone remember 93QFM's Friday Night Live?)  I'm thinking of compiling those two into one big show.

I just shudder to think of the complaints I'll probably get.  There's slight static every once in a while and a couple of drop-outs.  I'll try to clean it up the best I can, but there is only so much I can do with 17 year old multi-generational tapes.  I spoiled you guys with Intimate Pat and Songs For Young People.

Don't worry about complaints about sound quality...I used to have a few tapes from WQFM's Friday Night Live and the sound quality was never great.  But that's OK, I (and probably a few others) would just like to hear some of those old Men About Town songs in my car.  IMHO, that was Pat at his best...the leader of a great rockin band.

Thanks...

Sure, you and I won't complain, but others will.  People didn't complain about how Home For The Holidays sounded until after Intimate Pat and Songs For Young People came out.  Because that one was recorded before we got decent microphones and MiniDisc, it will never sound as good, but some people seem to be missing the point.  They may be called "Homebrewed" and have fancy packaging, but they are still bootlegs.  None of them are going to be perfect, kids.

This isn't directed at you, mad1town; just some general venting.  I'll do the Men About Town CD even if you and I are the only ones who end up owning it.

Thanks Mark...I think I understand your frustration.  I look forward to the Men About Time CD

By the way, I bet I know at least a few other people who would buy it...

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll buy any CD with Pat on it! (Well, I probably wouldn't buy a CD of Pat doing Milli Vanilli covers) Especially his older stuff that doesn't get played often or posted on the Song O' The Week. I think that Pat sounds great by himself, but he sounds even better with a band behind him!

Yes, I will most likely be doing one.  It definately won't be until next year, after Home For The Holidays is no more.  What I'll probably end up doing is sitting down over a weekend and put the whole thing together.  Maybe a nice long holiday weekend, like Thanksgiving.

I also need to check with Pat if he's cool with it.  He told me to hold off for a while because he was afraid I was using all his material.  I said I would, but I think he meant the recent material and will probably be OK with the older stuff.  I hope.  It's not like he ever plays any of these.  It would compliment the Yipes! and Confidentials CDs nicely.

Sounds great...a Men About Town CD would be a great stocking stuffer.

Again Mark I am sorry I ever
posted that quasi-complaint
comment in that other topic. But since then I have heard "Home for the Holidays"
and have to say it is damned good, and bless you for these
homebrewed offerings...please keep them coming. There is a market for them..these posts I believe are some validation
of how good of a job you do!!

For a (brief) while I had a couple of tapes from a summer 1982 show the "Men" let me tape (it was the last show I would be able to attend before I went out west - well, to Minnesota - for college). I loaned it to the Men's drummer (in the intervening 18 years of fog I can't remember his name right now. Had a "Buddy Rich" style face on the kick drum is all I can remember...), but when they were returned to me, he mistakenly had put the wrong tapes into the boxes. You may want to check with him (I WANT THEM BACK!!!). If I remember, the quality wasn't great, but it wasn't too bad, either. Wish I still had them. Listening to "Three Cool" on the song-o-the week brought back many good memories of the "early" years. Please put together a PMAT CD soon!
