I'm taking Briguy's musings and starting a new thread with it. Hope you don't mind.

Please don't discuss the "got in here free" shows which by the by, have cheaper beer prices than Shank. I may get flamed for saying this, but I believe even Miller Park beer is cheaper than Shank."

I quess I have never really thought that Shank prices were that extreme. Unless the have gone up 10 fold since the last time I was at a show.

Shank Hall is a music venue first and a bar 2nd and they don't serve food. So they primarly make there money off beverage sales if not all of there money. You are ALWAYS going to pay more at a venue like that.

I think people confuse why they go to show, I went/go to shows to see the show and drinking is usually 2nd or 3rd on the list if it's expensive I drink less.. who cares drinking isn't the primary reason I am there.

Also $7 is what I believe Shank is now, isn't that bad. I mean movies are up over 8 bucks now and a Pat show has never made me angry that I wasted my time or my money unlike some movies I have seen.

To be honest I can only speak for Shank Hall as thats the only venue I've seen our dear boy at. I can't speak for the drink prices as (for a variety of reasons) diet coke is about as strong as things get for this kid. However, I don't think $7.00 cover is that bad. For sure it ain't Highway Robbery! I really like the Shank and I know for sure I've paid a hell of a lot more (as high as $25) for shows there that wheren't anywhere near as entertaining as the show Pat delivers!!

Except for Summerfest and the State Fair, every other venue I have seen Pat play was $5. Sports Corner in Depere(excellent time), da Club, Pooleys, the Dry Bean, even Branch Street. I do agree that I have paid a lot more to see less entertaining shows by various types of artists.

HogHead McDunna in Chicago didn't charge a cover, which made the chorus kind of difficult to sing.

Yes, yes.  When you win ca$h buying drinks is fun and easy!!!  Tonight, however, at the Fine Line, there will be no such non-sense!
