I found this article about tension busting songs...agree? disagree? add anything? I noticed there was a certain Welsh superstar on there...perhaps Sexbomb should have been on there... http://www3.metrowestdailynews.com/artsCulture/view.bg?articleid=61049

interesting thoughts on songs taming tension. i don't know if i've thought of listening to a single song to relax. if i need to chill, i like to put in a good instrumental soundtrack, like "the lord of the rings."
but as far as the songs go, i can't say i'd agree with them all - i think i'd end up with an earworm listening to some of those and that would just make the tension worse. for me, "dust in the wind" by kansas has to be added, as well as the barenaked ladies' "one week" - goofy, annoying to some, but it picks me up. oh, and nothing reminds me more of carefree college football saturdays than a little "swingtown" by the steve miller band.

I like to slip in "Permission to Land" by The Darkness when I need something soothing to relax to.

Some of my personal favorites that save me from losing it (in no particular order): Ring of Fire, I'm Sick of This Shit, Here's a Quarter(Travis Tritt), I Like Beer(Tom T. Hall), In The Ghetto, and anything by Metallica.

I Like Beer...I just heard that on WMSE last week. Man, that took me back to the days when my grandpa would take me to the corner bar in some little podunk town. Right up there with Walk Right Back by the Everly Brothers and Floyd Cramer's Never Ending Love.
Makes...him...feel...melllllll-looooowwww!

Or maybe North to Alaska??? I know about the podunk bar thing. I grew up in the country where the nearest village was unincorporated; 2 bars, a deserted gas station, a cemetary, and 4 houses. Euchre on Saturday mornings and old school country. Tap Old Style is still 70 cents a glass.
Cool icon, by the way, Mark.
