Well, it was definitely the WEIRDEST Pat concert I've ever been to.
First of all, I do like Club Paragon. The service is not always the greatest, but the food is really good and the prices are reasonable, plus the sightlines are great from anywhere in the bar. That being said...
Pat started out with songs I either haven't heard in awhile or haven't heard at all (so far, so good). The whole second act was, like, "Pat, Live By Request" (also good!) He made up lots of stuff on the spot, lots of extra Irish verses, a musical rendering of the Nextel, I mean Winston race poster on the wall behind him (which was really quite good), and a song honoring a gift he gave to a fan, "Tommy's Got a Condom", which was sort of a running gag throughout. I especially enjoyed a new medley, "Songs in the Key of G", lots of my favorites were in there.
The Travelers from Madison were welcome, as always, proving to be the most devoted of Patheads; in fact they were pretty much the only ones who danced...

The weird part was, he probably did more talking and ad-libbing than I've ever seen at a show. I'm not complaining, mind you, as we all know Pat is the King of Extemporaneous Performance. He also forgot to pay homage to Pipe Jim, how odd is that?
Now, don't get me wrong, because Taco Bell has taught us that Different is Good. Pat was great, and I had a blast, and I'm pretty sure I know the reason he was more jovial than usual, (as I'm sure any true Pathead can figure out). He was hysterical , but different, and I am left wondering...was the fact that he was thinking about Doritoes mean what I think it meant? (And I mean that in a most loving and appreciative way...)
Anyway, Pat is amazing and it was a great show!!!
Hope to catch lots of you at Shank Hall Friday!
